Aftermetoo can cover the cost of working with your own lawyer, as well as other supports that may make this period easier. You don’t need to figure everything out at once — the steps below will guide you through what to do next.

1. Apply for legal services coverage

Please complete the Legal Services Coverage Application Form and include the details of the lawyer you’re already working with. This allows us to set up coverage for their fees going forward. It will take a few days for this form to be processed and you will receive email updates.

2. Apply for cost recovery (if needed)

If you need help covering related expenses — such as transportation to legal appointments, childcare, or other practical costs — you can also submit a Cost Recovery Application. These supports are designed to reduce barriers while you’re navigating the legal process.

  • you’re seeking legal support, and
  • you’d like to continue working with a specific lawyer (your own).

Your call will be answered by a qualified counsellor who can help you understand what support is available and how to access it.

Additional support is available

If you need more than legal support, you may also be eligible for other covered services, including:

  • Counselling — to help you process what happened and cope with its effects
  • Career coaching — to support decisions about work, leave, or next steps
  • Other practical supports — services or tools that make day-to-day life or work more manageable while you recover
